FEAST #4. “MOB GRAZING & DEVON COASTLINE”

For the last two years, Stevie Parle and the team have been smoking, pickling and curing, we’ve had our first honey harvest and the Kitchen Gardens are fully up and running. Now it’s time for a new project: Thursday FEASTS.
Each month we’re joining forces with great British suppliers or top chefs to create a unique one-off menu with wine pairings, cocktails made using homemade ingredients and new cheeses from our suppliers at Neal’s Yard.
The British Isles has always had produce to rank with that of anywhere in the world, and the wild pastures, rugged shoreline, coastal moors & farms of Devon are certainly no exception to this as they play centre stage for the 4th edition of Thursday Feasts on June 29th.
A few weeks back Michael, Ana and much of the Craft London team took a quick trip down the A303 to the tip of Dartmoor to visit and to take inspiration from the local suppliers who share the same ethos of quality in production as ourselves.
The result is a menu using the best produce Devon has to offer, with mob-grazing lamb from the Village Farm taking centre stage (featured in this years’ OFM Top 50) alongside the best home-grown vegetables from both the Spindlebrook farm located just down the road and some other local producers who we met on our way.
We’ve used as much of the lamb as possible, fished Skate out of the sea, plucked cockles from the coastal rocks and gathered sea leaves and different types of seaweed from the shoreline too.
It’s our fourth Thursday Feast and we’ve managed to put together a 7 course taste of Devon which we think could be the best yet – a Damson Soirée cocktail which we’ve made ourselves awaits too.
We think we’re getting better each time – it’s just £45 per person and will include all the food and the cocktail.
